Short Notice Birmingham Trip
It turns out I'm heading to the Big Ham tomorrow (Friday) night and staying with one of the hotels remaining on POC 2010's short list. I'm not meeting with them until Saturday morning, though, so Friday evening's kinda open. That means I get to go exploring! If anyone from Atlanta would like to tag along, I may have a little free crash space, and a good explorer can always use more company. Rock Band
Battle & Brew is hosting a Rock Band tournament at Dragon*Con! The BnB guys are awesome, so this promises to be a good show. Must make the time to check it out! More to the point, I think it'd be cool to have a POCster band playing in it. Does anybody wanna help form a band? Please write me ( here) to discuss evil plans! I'm also thinking about swinging by BnB tomorrow (Friday) evening to play for a bit, if anyone wants to join...? No More Licking!
I just went to the Post Office website, typed up a business letter on their word processor, and snail mailed it out without ever laying hands on any part of it--no paper, no envelope, no stamp. Too freakin' cool. I'm guessing this feature has been available for some time, but I never snail mail anything, and I had no idea. Best 4th of July Backyard Bash Ever!
Dating the girl who's moved over 600 miles away to D.C. in order to help change the world often sucks. But when she scores an invite to party up the 4th in the President's backyard...it does not. :-) Unlimited beer doesn't suck, either, and I'm now quite fond of this one. Nuttin' But Love!
It occurred to me last night during Drunken Lesbonian Conversation (DLC) that the most time I spent with many of my friends this Frolicon weekend was during our shared rides on the elevator. I think I spent less than 10 minutes total in Farshad's, and I did far too many fly-bys everywhere else, too. Several people saw little more from me than a hug or a rude grope! I don't like that at all, and now I wish I'd spent my weekend a bit differently. Adding the Registration shifts on top of the programming and the party was just too busy. I didn't have any time to visit with the people I never get to see. Very sad. Anyway, I wasn't trying to avoid anyone--it just kinda happened. But I got nuttin' but love for all my friends, and don't let anyone out there tell you differently! Cons are like family events to me, and next time I need to be free at least some to wander around catching up. Even with, like, the weird-old-uncle dude in the corner. Haha, who am I kidding?!
